Die Down Low

"Come in and have your fortune read!
Look into this crystal ball" he said
The senile man with his scraggly grey beard
and crusty eyes will see what he most feared.

The mindless pre-teen girl entered his shop
as she walked on the squeaky floor, then stopped.
A chair scooted beneath her and made her sit
on a silk covered cushion that was closely knit

"Tell me," the sorcerer said as he juggled
a three-headed deer that he smuggled
"What is it that you would like to see in your future?"
The girl could not speak for her mouth had a suture.

She pointed at her mouth for the decrepit old coot to see
that she was unable to speak to a tolerable degree
"Just close your eyes, and think ahead
to the future that is not full of dread!"

With eyes wide closed and hands together
she fluttered off the chair like a weightless feather.
Hardback books were flying off the shelves
as the geezer was terrified as if he'd just seen elves

Wind speed picked up and the girl turned cold
Her gentle, blue eyes became red and bold
The crystal ball began turning black
only to eventually glow and crack

The fortune teller knew he had to get out fast
But he was so petrified even his legs were aghast
The crystal ball shattered into a million fragments
The small oval-shaped room filled with a vile scent

The old man, sprawled on the ground
Awakened as he was tied and bound
The most gruesome creature stared face to face
Its Saliva dribbling down with no grace

A scaly head that had tentacles at the jaws
Bore fangs that could penetrate the thickest of claws
It was as large as an elephant and fast as a gazelle
The talons could rip a man's flesh straight to hell

"If you really want to know what I wished for" the girl from behind
"was for your worst nightmare to come straight from your mind!"
The teller opened his mouth, but the demon ate his tongue
while it crushed his ribs with its legs and collapsed his lung

"you're a crazy fucking lier!!" the man screeched.
But the little girl only bent down and reached
For the fortune teller's eyelids as she eagerly pulled them apart
And let the beast to dart its tentacles straight through the eyes to his heart

The brute ripped the man's skin off so quickly and fed
While the girl walked away from the man as he bled
Gore covered the walls, windows, and whole room
as she gathered her belongings and watched it consume

Deafening shrieks were still coming from his vocal chords
As he begged and pleaded. But the girl walked towards
the door and opened and left, only for the building to be quiet and gloom
And continued to walk the gravel path with a smile of impending doom.
